Alone

February 6, 2017

Alone… Lonely… Two alike yet very different words. To be alone or to be lonely isn’t the same thing. When I was a little kid, I used to be super shy and not very social person, so many times I did feel lonely even though I have grown up in a big family with 3 other siblings.

But even then, I always knew the difference between being lonely and wanting to be or feel alone. Regardless of often feeling lonely, I have always loved to have my own space and spend some time alone.

I remember spending time alone with myself only and here and there with some music blasting from my discman ( yep, back to good old times ). I have found so much inner piece and def. have done a good period of daydreaming on my long hikes in the forest or sometimes, I would for hours sit on my rooftop and watch the sky filled with stars… Or I would go to the “secret” beaches and just absorb the calmness of the sea and beauty of nature that surrounded me.

I feel that as I have been growing up, I have opened up more, became much more social and “outspoken”. I have become a person which loves to gather together with a big group of friends, meet new people and has no problems to be in spaces with a lot of people around. While I love that, I still always crave my own space and some days I just feel like being alone is all I want to do. Those days are so important for my own well-being, self growth and clearing my thoughts so to say.

I believe that only if you can be alone and at peace with yourself, you can think clear and make the right choices even in the most hectic moments, you’ll know what to do or what your heart wants to do.

Funny thing is; and I call it a “curse of Modern World” that while so many people are feeling and being lonely, they don’t know or have even experienced the beauty of being alone. How many people do you know that can’t do anything without at least having a TV on or staring at their laptop and phone while simultaneously having a conversation, cooking food or whatever? How many people are out there that don’t want to deal with some issues or whatever they have going on and instead choose to surround themselves with all sorts of distraction just not to be alone… Alone with their thoughts and their inner self…

I believe that if people would learn the beauty of sometimes being alone and “just being” they would suffer less from the wrong choices, wrong companies and what not because they would know that the best friend they can ever have is themselves and that all of the answers to their questions and problems lay in their hands.

What are your thoughts on this? If you feel like, please do share with me because I’d love to know!

Happy Monday everybody!

I fully agree that there is difference between being lonely and alone. Being alone is very spiritual and you can grow through that. If you are ready and mature enough. I think that once you had a baby, and you have a daughter so you understand what I mean, it is harder to find time for yourself but it is very important to do so. Don’t you think?

Upravo onda sam najproduktivnija i
dobijem super ideje za buduce projekte i sl.

I completely agree. There is a beautiful thing to have alone time. Time to reflect, meditate, think, dream, get grounded. I often grow the most when I am alone. I can hear my intuition the best and am guided towards the next steps to take. Thank you for this beautiful reminder. Sending you love. XO, Ellese

Firstly, I absolutely LOVE your Zara dress. They always have the best one’s right?! I just bought several things from there and can’t wait to start styling them on the blog!! As for being alone? It’s honestly something I’ve always cherished… it’s a wonderful way to refocus, reconnect and care for ourselves and ultimately be a better person to those we love!! xo

Definite difference between being alone and feeling lonely for sure.

  • Reply Maria Beneventano February 9, 2017 at 3:45 AM

This is such a relatable post! Within the last year, I have really discovered the great feeling of creating some alone time for myself, and really being able to think for yourself, without being interrupted with others. I agree that it is really important to be at ease with yourself, and to try your best to accept yourself the way you are; it does make everything easier! Being around friends and family is always great also, but sometimes you do just need some alone time!

I definitely appreciate some alone time. I have to gather up my thoughts and process things in my own way! I tend to go for a walk or a run to clear my head, then I am ready for company again. Plus I prefer to be alone to watch girly tv or movies!
