Zagreb diary – Days 3&4

January 23, 2014

My short but lovely trip has come to an end and tomorrow is the time to go back home to a super freezing Helsinki. I haven’t missed that crazy cold at all, but I’m happy to go back home, finish the renovation (finally) and start decorating and organising the apartment.

Last two days were such a blast in Zagreb! I went to numerous places and have been walking for hours and hours. I can definitely feel it in my legs now 🙂 I have checked out National theatre, cathedral, famous St. Mark’s church and Croatian parliament, Museum of broken relationships ( the coolest place ever ), Stone gate, etc. When it comes to food, I didn’t know that Zagreb has such an amazing array of wonderful restaurants. There’s everything for everybody! I have enjoyed eating my lunch at restaurants Carpaccio and Kisha, as much as I did enjoy in my deserts at Aida and Amelie cake cafes.

Zagreb diary – Days 1&2

January 22, 2014

Hello everybody! Here’s a little diary and breakdown of first two days spent in Zagreb. I’ve been travelling most of the 1st day, so big part of the trip was all about spending time in the air and at the airports. I’ve found a new favourite lunch place at Frankfurt airport – Deli Bros. They make delicious and fresh food which was perfect for me since I never eat the airplane food.

New York – Days 6,7 and 8

August 24, 2013

Days on Manhattan flew by in a second and I’m writing this post from home in Helsinki. The jet lag is awful and I miss New York terribly, but I have to make some serious decisions, so I need some time away from everything and inside my 4 walls to think about my future. All I know for sure is that New York became my home in only 8 days and I have never felt more happy or welcomed in any other place I’ve been at/ lived at.

Day 6 kicked off with power breakfast at Le Pain Quotidien and continued at Natural history museum. The museum was such a special experience. The most beautiful museum I’ve ever been to which definitely takes your breath away with everything that’s on the display, from the taxidermy, history of humankind, all the tribes and similar.

New York – Days 4&5

August 21, 2013

Time is flying by like crazy here in NYC and even though I’m walking millions of blocks every day, I’m not tired at all and could go on for the whole day. There’s just so much to see on the streets. So many shops, buildings, museums, statues, restaurants, cafes… I would love to go inside each and every one of them. Even though there’s not time to do that now, I will definitely do it next year when I’m coming back to possibly live here for a while. Let’s see what the future holds for me 🙂

New York – Day 3

August 19, 2013

Wuh! Jat lag is totally a crazy thing. I’m not tired at all, but I do fall asleep just like that at 8 PM! Grandma 😀 Also, I do wake up regularly at 4 am every morning :O I’m walking all the time, every day all across the city and I’m completely in love with this place. It’s just my kind of city and I’m seriously considering moving here next year.

Yesterday, the day 3 was fantastic! I have seen so much and been to many places such as National Public Library, Grand Central station, Rockefeller tower, Bouchon bakery, Trump tower, St. Patrick’s cathedral, Saks 5th Avenue, FAO Schwarz, Little Italy, etc.

New York – Day 2

August 18, 2013

Day 2 started super early for me, as early as 4 am. Jet lag is definitely a bit** and my black under eye circles have never been bigger.

To beat the jet lag a little bit, we had breakfast at Le Pain Quotidien, wonderful cafe/ restaurant which serves all organic food. I’m SO impressed with the taste of food, it tasted like no other. Wow! I can definitely recommend this place.

New York – Day 1

August 17, 2013

Well, not exactly day one, but practically – yes. I’m finally in New York city! After 6600 km, 1 hour long waiting lines at customs and border control, 40 minutes of taxi ride and 25 hours of no sleep, I’m in the Big Apple and I’m super happy about it! I haven’t seen much, not even around the hotel, but I did go to Macy’s to keep myself awake by all the lights, noise and music blasting from everywhere. I got some new cosmetics which I can’t get back at home, so I’m quite happy with my purchases for today 🙂

Croatia – Last two 10&11 days

July 21, 2013

Good morning Helsinki! I came back home yesterday from Croatia and right away had temperature shock. It was almost 20 degrees less in Helsinki. It felt weird to have to wear my jacket/ blazers again 😛

Last two days in Croatia were bitter-sweet. There’s still so much to look forward to this summer, but it was hard to say byes to my family and also to leave the sea,sun and beach life behind.

Croatia – Days 6,7,8 & 9

July 18, 2013

What a great Summer holiday it’s been in Croatia!? The weather has been absolutely amazing, so I got a chance to enjoy the sun, sea and fresh air to the fullest.

Every day flew by just like that and I wish I could stay here longer. Luckily there’re still two full days of holidays here, so I’ll do my best to use them 100%. When you live in a country that does not have many sunny days and for 6 months your surroundings are very dark, cold and snowy, you start to appreciate and love Summer even more!

Croatia – Days 3,4 and 5

July 13, 2013

Time really flies by so fast, esp. when you’re having a good time! This holiday was just what I needed, lots of sun, sea, fresh air and many hours of sleep. We went to newly opened Aquarium in my old hometown Sibenik and it was such a pleasant experience. Even though the city is small, this lovely little Aquarium can compete with some aquariums/ Sea Lifes which I’ve seen around the Europe.

Also, one of these days we’ve played mini golf and of course I won, just like I do every year 😀 It was so much fun and I’m planning on doing it again next week.
