Three stories

Hello my dear readers! I’m in the middle of packing up my life and belongings once again as I’m about to take off to Europe on Friday. I haven’t had time to shoot some outfit photos, but hopefully I’ll catch up with that tomorrow. Last couple of days were really crazy and I had no time for anything except packing and eating. šŸ˜€

I did have time to take couple of photos which made me feel all sorts of emotions and re-think everything about life in general. Here’re three real stories from streets of LA which have inspired me like nothing ever before.

All of the photos and stories are my own. For more of my work, check out my website Natali K.

“Painful dance”
It’s been almost three months since I have arrived to LA and while every day has been completely different than another, my Sundays have been very, very similar. On purpose and oh how THANKFUL I am that “repetitiveness” has payed off… Every Sunday, I’d take the same route at about the same time of the day, towards one of my favourite streets. Always, on the same corner I’d see this homeless girl with what looked like all of her belongings, always facing her from the back and I could only quickly see that each Sunday she was dressed up and always very graciously applying make up on her face. I started to wonder about this girl, who is she, what’s her story, where is she heading to after she’s done with the make up ( because sometimes I’d pass by there on other days and she would’t be there ). It wasn’t but up until about 2 weeks ago that I have realised that this girl wasn’t a girl… For the first time I took a better look while passing by and saw masculine facial lines, muscles and only one tattoo “GAY”. That blew me away and ever since then I have decided that I MUST take photos of this person. I finally dared to do so today! My heart was beating like crazy, I was sweating and my voice was shaking, but I have pulled by balls together and dared to approach him. Turns out that he’s one of the most fine and feminine “ladies” I’ve ever met in my life, he’s a showman, very shy one, but incredibly intriguing and he too wears a mask just like all of us, but he bravely wears his for everybody to see and know.
Dear everybody, please meet Kyle!

“Alone in heaven”
Today was a ground breaking day for me… I did something I could never think that I would even dare to do. I was always an introvert and very shy person, but last couple of years I have been opening up more and more and challenging myself to do things that I would always scare away from. Today I had a special moment! That moment that changes the direction and feel of your life… Sometimes, those moments are as “simple” as getting down on the same “level” as this gentleman’s. I simply couldn’t ignore him and pass by. “Hungry and needing money for food.” said on the cardboard next to him. He must have been around my age, looking like an unlucky soul who touched my soul without even talking to me. I have gently gave him some money and kindly asked him for the photo saying that I’m a photographer and a storyteller… He was all cool about it and after I took couple of photos and thanked him, he gave his blessings for the rest of my day. Once again a reminder to be happy and thankful for everything that I have and am blessed to wake up to/ with every day as well as a lesson to all of us that we are all the same, just some of us haven’t been that lucky to make the right choices nor have the right people be part of our lives, because no matter what somebody says… We can never walk through life alone, we all need each other to be better versions of ourselves and we can never fight through any darkness without somebody leading the way for us so that we can be the light for somebody else when they need a hand…

    2. Fotografije su predivne. Pričaju priču. Bolnu, ali istinitu. Njihovu istinu.
    3. Hvala.

Such incredible finesse that you’re demonstrating here! You dared and you went. Now your pics are touching lives and making it all a dash better.
Good vibes for packing… You’ll be happy once you get there. Say hi to Helsinki for me. I decided not to go back there this year, even if it has already been two.
