Why staycation is good for you? You might wonder what the heck is staycation to start with?! Well, let me tell you, without any googling and in depth details, it’s one of the best forms of self love there is. Taking a break in your own city and just pampering yourself is something I’d highly recommend to anybody over 25 who works hard and usually puts everything and everybody in the first place and if the time allows them, then they maybe take some time off for themselves too.
Staycation is sort of a “spa treatment” for body and soul in one! I have recently stayed at a Klaus K hotel in the city centre of Helsinki. I didn’t want to drag myself over the airports during the Christmas/ New Year’s Eve time as that would have been too stressful and demanding so I’ve decided to treat myself the best staycation possible, at a concept hotel with a super comfy bed, cozy hotel room view, body massage, dinner next door at a great restaurant, meeting with friends from abroad, watching TV for the first time in what feels like forever…
I had some champagne popped as well as a pizza delivery to my hotel room which was then inhaled while comfortably laying on the bed in my bathrobe. I must say that my staycation was SO needed that I didn’t even notice how much I was close to the burn out from work and just in general of my daily routines and being a mom to a schoolgirl.
Why the staycation is good for you? Because you deserve it!! You just do and you shouldn’t be ashamed to treat yourself nice and sometimes luxurious moments in life if you can. I was always that person which used to apologise to her own self and then to everybody else if I’d take a break, if I would buy myself something nice (even if it was a bouquet of fresh flowers) or if I would be “naughty” lazy for a day. Well, with age comes bit of wiseness too so I knew that not everybody will understand my choices or why self love is so important, but I won’t ever again apologise or have the need to “earn” every single indulging moment or feel bad for getting that nice little present for myself which I’ve been putting off for so long.
Now, I do think that travelling is and always will come first for me but if the situation or timing isn’t right for the travelling, I’ll definitely remind myself more often to do the staycation ritual and enjoy my life in my own city just a little bit more. 🙂
Verdict: Staycation will recharge your batteries and whatever you’re doing, you’ll do much more efficiently and with less stress!
What are your thoughts on staycation? Do you like staycations?
