Visit Helsinki: Hotel Indigo®

Good Monday morning my dear readers! I hope that your weekend was a good one and was filled with holidays’ spirit since it’s the most beautiful time of the year and we have less than a month left until the Christmas and New Year’s Eve festivities. 🙂 Many of you have left comments on either my Instagram or on my blog that you’ll be visiting my city of Helsinki in December, so I thought that it was a perfect moment to present you Hotel Indigo® as part of my “Visit Helsinki” series of posts in which I present you the best places to go and explore in Helsinki, from shops, spas, restaurants, to hotels, museums, etc.

As a frequent traveler that I am, whenever I’m visiting new city/ country, I always prepare myself well and do my research in advance. Staying in a hotel that’s private, modern, walking distance to everything and that is not going to “break the bank” for couple of nights’ stay in it, is something I have proudly mastered over the years.

Hotel Indigo® is perfectly located in the centre of Helsinki city. It is walking distance to many sightseeing spots as well as to anything else you would need to see and experience while visiting Helsinki. It’s located on one of the most important streets in the city, Boulevardi, the world renowned Design District. In the proximate vicinity you can also find the oldest bakery and cafe, Cafe Ekberg where you must take a moment to sit down for a cup of Paulig coffee, toast Skagen and their legendary Napoleon cake.

Alexander Theatre, Koff city park and museum, Hietalahti Market hall and flee market are just some of the numerous, must visit places that are walking distance from the hotel.

What can you expect from enviormentaly friendly Hotel Indigo® ? Upon the arrival to the hotel, you can expect to be right away impressed by the hotel’s lobby and reception interior. The hotel offers you comfort in one of their 120 rooms decorated in the Scandinavian style. It also has two restaurants Bröd and BLD, gym and Body, Mind and Soul studio . On top of the unique interior, super friendly and highly skilled staff will do everything to make you feel at home, comfortable and will know all of the information that you might wanna know if you want to explore Helsinki as a local. 🙂

Hotel Indigo® is the first hotel from this chain in Nordic countries. First hotel of this chain was opened in 2004 in US and ever since then, another 60 hotels have opened, one third of them being in Europe. Very specific for all of these hotels is that they’re strongly rooted in the history, design, story and culture of their neighbourhood. Another important fact that makes this hotel special is that it’s energy efficient. It will apply for LEED, international environmental classification. LEED is a rating system for the green building.

Staying at Hotel Indigo® for me as a local was a lovely and comfortable experience. I have also enjoyed their delicious and healthy breakfast at restaurant Bröd which turns out to, as well be a very popular spot in the evenings, when the A la carte menu is available and you can enjoy some of the best, fine dining, Finnish cuisine.
