Triple Yes

Triple yes to the latest restaurant ran by a successful gastro duo of Richard McCormik and Ville Relander. Those who are locals or have been following bit closely Helsinki food scene must have already come across those two names as those are the same people to “blame” for eateries such as Sandro, TheCock and Holiday Bar.

Triple yes or “YesYesYes” was a long awaited opening of vegetarian and vegan only restaurant which was very much missing on the Helsinki food scene prior. I’d say that nowadays there are great options in different restaurants across the city for both, vegans and vegetarians but there was no such stylish, only vegan and vegetarian restaurant around.

From the day it opened, “YesYesYes” has attracted curious crowd of not only vegans and vegetarians. It became so raved about that in less than 2 months of opening their doors they have earned a placement in Top 50 restaurants in Finland.

I have visited Triple Yes one day before they’ve officially opened just to see what’s the new concept all about and check out the latest Diesel and Diesel gold collection press day which happened to be exactly there. Only last week I’ve managed to return to this beautifully decorated restaurant, sit down and try their food as well as the cocktails.

Both cocktails were virgin ones but they do serve proper “versions” too, so no fear for those who want their regular cocktail experience. 😀 Tested cocktails were Night Jasmin and Bollywood which was my more favourite of those two.

Ordering from the YesYesYes menu was quite easy, everything is very clearly stated and choices are plenty, bit of munchies, some dips, roots and greens, comfort plates, sides and desserts.

I went for each section so what I got to experience were: zucchini feta nuggets with lemon and chilli yoghurt which I can def. recommend you to try if you happen to visit. Next up was the burnt tomato and peppers labneh dip and shishito peppers with housemate tandoori bread.

I have to mention that YesYesYes tandoori bread is made at the restaurant and it’s made in a special tandoor oven which is something I haven’t seen yet in Helsinki and is a very much appreciated novelty.

Next up I have tried the crudities with beetroot mayo, while it was def. the most beautifully presented dish, I didn’t find it that exciting and would use different raw veggies to dip with the mayo.

As somebody who grew up eating pasta pretty much every single day, I had to try the rigatoni pasta with squash, ricotta cheese, pistachio pesto and burnt tomato. I’d say that this dish had a very good potential but the addition of squash was in my mind too much. It sort of ruined the taste of very delicious ricotta and pistachio pesto.

For the dessert the most interesting option was chocolate ganache with orange, salted liquorice and crumbled pistachio. I’d say that it was definitely an interesting tasting dessert and different than something I’ve tried by far. Next time I want to try Matcha banoffee pie, I somehow feel that it would be more “my kind” of dessert rather than the chocolate ganache one. 😀

All in all, triple yes to YesYesYes and for bringing something new to the foodie scene which is ever so growing and changing almost monthly! Helsinki has become a food city and the competition is though but if you have a great kitchen team, listen to the “needs” of the customers, have quick and professional service (that was impeccable at YesYesYes) and a beautifully designed space, you can bet that you’ll be filling up those tables easily. 🙂
