Discover LA: Connie & Ted’s

April 13, 2015

Welcome to the new section on my blog “Discover LA”. I’ll be taking you all over LA to experience some of the best and my favourite places, events, experiences of this unique and ever changing city. As first spot that I’m taking you to I chose a spectacular fish restaurant called Connie and Ted’s!

This restaurant has been named after a beautiful story of a couple of immigrants Connie and Ted and their love for fishing and family unity. Restaurant’s concept from interior to the menu is strongly inspired by New England’s oyster bars and fish houses. To experience some of the most delicious lobster rolls, fresh oysters and some of the best crab cakes in Los Angeles, you’ll have to go to West Hollywood’s Santa Monica Boulevard. Make sure to reserve your table at this hyped about place, since it’s very busy restaurant and fills up easily, esp. over the weekend.

This restaurant is def. family/ kids friendly, so if you want your little ones to experience ( and finally fall in love with ) great fish, then def. bring them along. 🙂

We went to Connie’s and Ted’s for lunch on Saturday about two-three weeks ago. For starter we went with fried calamari which were perfect, not chewy and not nearly as greasy they tend to be in most of the places that offer fried calamari on their menu. They come served in a bread basket with marinara and figaro dipping sauces.

We had three different main courses, since there were three people, so let’s start right away with the most possibly most wanted dish off the menu – lobster roll ( hot with butter ) and side of french fries. Since this wasn’t my main course, all I can say is that my husband was super pleased with this roll, he said that it was the best lobster roll he ever ate. Bun was melting in his mouth and lobster was juicy and fresh. 🙂

I went for Crab cake and coleslaw with tartar sauce and side of baked butternut squash. Crab cake was absolutely delicious, coleslaw was nothing special, just regular coleslaw, but on a “healthier” side since it wasn’t drenched in sauce/ mayo. Butternut squash was not the best side dish you can go with, so I’d suggest to order something else as a side. It just didn’t fit well with the fish.

Finally, our friend went with something that I can’t remember right now and can’t seem to find that dish on the menu either, so it must have been a daily special or such. Sorry about that, but it def. looks great and she loved it, so… 🙂

If this post and photos are not enough to make you interested in this lovely restaurant, then head over to their website and check for more information and full menu list.
