Gateau Esplanadi

Gateau Esplanadi is OPEN!! 🙂 I have already previously written on my blog about this wonderful artisan bakery from Sweden which has crafted and perfected artisan breads since 1937. New Gateau Esplanadi opened only 3 weeks ago on one of the most beautiful and busiest streets in Helsinki city centre. 

If you’ve ever been to Helsinki, I believe ( and hope ) that you haven’t missed out on walking down the Esplanadi as it’s also one of the main spots for shopping and fine coffee places in Helsinki. That’s why it doesn’t surprise me that Gateau have decided to open up their 15th shop in Finland exactly there.

It’s beautiful to walk down the street, see so much “buzz and fuzz” and be able to either pick up your own baked goodies such as baguettes, sourdough and rye breads, sweet and salty pastries, sandwiches, cakes or get a coffee and tea to go.

Just as if the Gateau gods have decided that alongside the opening of the bakery on Esplanadi street, we will at the same time be surprised by the great weather in Helsinki, even too hot for this time of the year in Scandinavia. One of the best ways to enjoy the unexpected Scandi Summer weather is by chilling in the central park of Helsinki known as Esplanade park. Locals, as well as the tourists love to do mini picnics in the park and Gateau’s new perfect location and easy to take away baked goodies are just what one needs to enjoy the time off in the city’s nature.

Just like during my previous visit to Gateau in Ullanlinna, I have tested their two new cakes out of which one is fully vegan and very delicious. I’m not a fan of raw or vegan cakes but Gateau has managed to create a beautifully layered, apricot and forest berries, almond flour based creamy and such a pretty looking cake which you would totally love even as a non vegan.

Service at Gateau bakery is always on point and knowledgable so don’t be afraid to ask for a suggestion or more information on their products once you visit them.
