Nobu Shoreditch, a newcomer to the ever growing restaurant scene in London. Dinner at Nobu Shoreditch was on top of the “must visit” places on my travel bucket list during my recent trip to London. Nobu restaurants are a worldwide group of top notch, Japanese cuisine and fine dining restaurants, coming from the celebrated Japanese chef Nobu Matsuhisa.
Nobu Shoreditch is also owned by a super famous Hollywood actor Robert DeNiro who also attended the opening of this restaurant and the first Nobu hotel in London a few months ago. By opening Nobu Shoreditch hotel and restaurant, Shoreditch area got a big “upgrade” to already buzzing and growing area of London that is quickly becoming one of the coolest areas in town to live, explore, work… You name it! 🙂
Nobu Shoreditch seats 240 people with an accompanying bar area where you can try some unique and exclusive cocktails while enjoying the groove of the in-house DJ who is present every day of the week during the dinner service. If you’re staying at Nobu hotel next door or feel like giving your regular breakfast and brunch an “upgrade” to something more unique, def. try Nobu Shoreditch’s breakfast or weekend brunch.
I was very excited to try the dinner experience at Nobu, esp. since my previous experience of chef Matsuhisa was about 2 and half years ago in LA. Another reason to be very excited was the fact that the menu had some of the classic options such as tobanyaki, tiradito, traditional sashimi and nigiri, black cod filets, etc. but it also had “Shoreditch specials” such as special sushi roll of unagi, cilantro aioli ikura and yellowtail with jalapeño.
Service was absolutely impeccable, very welcoming, professional, accommodating and meeting all of the wishes and expectations. After a short consultation and a run through of the menu, me and my brother have decided to try the following dishes: Brick owen roasted broccoli with ikura and Red Dragon sauce, crispy rice and spicy tuna, toro, o-toro and tamago nigiris, Shoreditch special Unagi roll, Grass fed beef tenderloin in yuzu-truffle sauce with crispy pickled onions and Nobu Kushiyaki with teriyaki chicken.
All of the dishes were satisfaction to our taste and were absolutely flawless… The fusion and mix of the tastes in each dish was so interesting and a good reminder of why you need to visit at least one of Nobu restaurants, once in your life!
We have agreed that the beef tenderloin and special Unagi roll were our top favourites but we would not like to take the spotlight away from the other dishes either since all of the them have delivered and had a great depth to them, taste and presentation wise.
If you’re looking for one of the coolest, “stiff-less” places in London to enjoy the fine dining and world class Japanese cuisine, I can recommend you to visit Nobu Shoreditch wholeheartedly.
