Electric heart

They say that creative and artsy souls are always messy people and their bedrooms/ homes/ work spaces are always in some kind of “creative” disorder but they swim wonderfully in their own unorganised world and still get everything done and come through with their plans and final product.

So as an artsy spirit, I’m kicking off the beginning of this year instead of following everybody’s lead and writing a long post on my resolutions, by doing the completely opposite… Setting up some resolutions and goals is great and healthy, but as much as I’ve been contemplating on writing down my own list, without making any pressure to post it publicly on this blog or my social media, I have decided that I won’t be doing one this year…

Every time when I’ve tried to plan my life or set some list of rules of behaviour, my life ALWAYS took a completely different path or things never worked out the way I thought that they would. I don’t even have to mention you how many times I’ve been disappointed in myself and people around me, not realising that life isn’t about perfectly planning it out and following some invisible rules in order to get to where you hope or want to be. Life is all that happens in between, life is what happens when you’re not planning so much and living an illusional and curated life… Life is when you try to be better person than you were yesterday and if you couldn’t do it today, you’ll try again tomorrow. Life is when you’re spontaneous and if you feel like going to the cinema in the middle of the day, by yourself, then you’ll do it! Life is when you breathe with your full lungs, barefoot, standing on the sand beach and watching the sun setting in the middle of the warm Summer eve… Life is when you wake up in the morning and first thing you see is an angel like face of your child smiling at you. Life is when you laugh so much that your belly hurts because you just had a coffee with a friend you haven’t seen in a long time and you haven’t even planned the coffee that you ended up drinking with them.

Guidance is great, but there MUST be balance… I feel that many people nowadays set too high, too perfect, too planned goals and lists that they can never reach but only end up being disappointed or completely burned out while they’ve been chasing an unreachable ghost of perfection and haven’t enjoyed the REAL life and it’s beauty in the meanwhile…

My good advice to you for this year’s resolutions is that you do make yourself organised, do make some kind of skeleton of wishes and goals, but be realistic about them and don’t forget to appreciate all of these small and wonderful, NOT planned moments in your daily life.
