Pepsi girl

August 1, 2016

pepsigirl2

Pepsi girl… That’s it, that’s where any connection between me and Pepsi or me and fizzy drinks stops. I used to be into all those drinks when I was little up until I was about 19, which means that for the past decade I didn’t have any, not even when going out and drinking some… ahem, alcohol. 😀 But I do love these kind of simple, loose “Pepsi girl” t-shirts which you can style however you want and I chose to style it in a sporty way.

Thinking about fizzy drinks and how unhealthy they are, I’ve naturally started to think about health and overall well being, which lead me have tons of thoughts running through my mind and a look back into the past… To be honest, my health or taking care of myself was never my top priority. In fact, it was not even close to that “top” part, it was so low or non existent.

I was always the one to take care and look after everybody… I was always the one to help others and share my knowledge with them about health and good quality of living, while I couldn’t apply a single thing to my own life. I always knew so much about these topics in theory, but when it came to putting them into practice – I didn’t know and at times I didn’t really care to know how to do that.

This Pepsi girl never took any pills for any headaches, body pains or whatever issue I might had. I have always been that person that waits that everybody is being “served”, loved, taken care of and if there is anything, any time or cure left for me, I might take it then.

On the other hand, I would very often get upset that “nobody” was there for me when I needed them or when I was in pain. Well, everybody got used to seeing me as an “Iron woman” and I have put the shield of not needing anybody’s help or I can handle everything on my own, so of course that even if I did wanted or needed some attention or help I wouldn’t be getting any. I made everybody around me used to always having me on demand when they needed me and not needing anybody when I actually did… I don’t even have to start explaining how draining, disappointing and UNNECESSARY feeling of being “invisible” or used up that was.

I have finally come to realise that while I’ll always be a person who gives a lot and shares her last piece of chocolate with whomever is around, it is important to finally put myself and self-love on the first place. I have concluded that if you don’t find time for yourself, if you don’t have that self – love and appreciation for yourself, you’ll never be fully happy, complete nor will you be able to give out as much love and care to others without being frustrated that nobody sees this iron woman crying for help, love and understanding from the inside.

I have let go of my super fictional views of what being strong, healthy or loving is… I have also let go of fear that loving yourself and putting yourself on the first place means being vain, because it does not. Fix yourself first, make yourself healthy and happy sunshine spot, your good, genuine mood will radiate wherever you go and only that will be a great healing energy for everybody around. You can do so much if you feel good from the inside and on the outside. You can also help to so many people to feel the same way, but it all starts from you first.

Happy 1st day of August! May it be a magical month for everybody! 🙂

Toivottavasti tÀstÀ tulee maaginen kuukausi meille kaikille.

I could be reading about myself there, Natali. The times I’ve cried on the inside. The cries that have not been noticed.
It pleases me that you discovered all of this as a young woman, and not later in Life.
I’m not a Pepsi girl either, but would love to be able to wear that top. It highlights you gorgeous tan.
Happy 1st of August to you too. Let’s all make it magical.

This outfit could not be cuter! I especially love the way you tied that ribbon around your wrist as a bracelet — elevates the Pepsi shirt into couture!!

Love this stylish outfit, and your reflections reminded me of the quote “you can’t pour from an empty cup”. And it’s just so true, you have to take care of yourself first and fill yourself with healthy thoughts before you can be a helping hand to others! Xx

I’ve been reading your blog for quite some time and never had the courage to comment but seeing how nice you are I decided that I have to do it. 🙂
I loved this, it is exactly what I always do, help everyone else and than feeling sad when I’m “forgotten”, this post made me realise that if I don’t help myself first, and put myself first, I won’t be able to help others. 🙂

  • Reply Margaret Hong August 3, 2016 at 12:03 PM

I cannot agree more with what you have said. Seriously I was like this as well, the ‘iron lady’ in everybody’s eyes, and I was so frustrated to find that there’s no one for me when I was in need, then I would be grumpy, annoyed, furious and scaring everyone. Now that I also gain the ability to love myself as much as I used to just do it to others and can’t feel happier! Can I just recommend a book as well to get back the ‘self’ if anyone is also going through this disappointing stage, that’s The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand, hope you guys like it!

Hi Natalie! Although I do not drink Pepsi or any other similar drinks, this t-shirt is awesome and you have styled it so great! You look very beautiful and stylish!! I really enjoyed reading this post and can’t agree more with your points. Most of us have grown up and taught that loving yourself is selfish, while it’s the most important first step to achieve happiness! You have to love yourself first to be able to love and appreciate other people and the small things in life that bring happiness! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts, and have a great month of August!

This is so true! You have to put yourself first, and then help the people around you, because the most important person in your life will always be you. If you can’t give to yourself, you can’t give to others. I also don’t drink soda, it has too much sugar and it’s not even worth it 😉
