Visit Helsinki: Roster

July 21, 2016

roster12

I’ve been eagerly waiting to present you the new, hottest and most awaited opening of a restaurant in Helsinki’s food scene – Roster! In my “Visit Helsinki” section, I’m happy to write about this “newborn” but don’t be fooled, it’s partially owned by big chain of great restaurants “Royal Ravintolat” and is ran by three skilled, passionate and with a long careers in their pockets, chefs Kari Aihinen, Olli Kolu and Burt Kotkavuori, all originating from a fine dining, one of the longest standing kitchens of Savoy restaurant. Let’s not forget to mention Mr.Boss – Paul Hickman, overlooking everything and equally putting in as much love and dedication.

Olen odottanut malttamattomana sitÀ hetkeÀ ettÀ saan esitellÀ teille tÀmÀn uuden, hotin ja todella odotetun HelsinkilÀisen ruoka skene tulokkaan, Rosterin! Olen niin iloinen saadessani esitellÀ teille tÀmÀn tulokkaan minun Visit Helsinki sarjassani. Mutta ÀlkÀÀ antako tulokas sanan hÀmÀtÀ. SillÀ sen omistaa osittain iso ketju nimeltÀÀn Royal Ravintolat. Ja sitÀ pyörittÀvÀt kolme taitavaa, suuren intohimon omaavaa ja jo pitkÀn uran tehnyttÀ henkilöÀ. Keittiömestari Kari Aihinen, Olli Kolu ja Burt Kotkavuori. Jotka kaikki tulevat yhdestÀ Helsingin vanhimmasta fine dining ravintolasta Savoysta. Unohtamatta Herra Pomoa Paul Hickmania. Joka valvoo koko ravintolan toimintaa, antaen yhtÀlailla rakkautta ja omistautuneisuutta tÀhÀn projektiin.

Visit Helsinki: Gaijin

July 13, 2016

gaijin13

I might have been an “outsider” ( translation of Gaijin ) to Gaijin when I have visited it last year, but this time around I knew what I could expect from a long standing Asian fusion kitchen and still one of the top choices in Helsinki to go for a private dining or special occasion one. I was very eager to come back to Gaijin and try the highlights from the new menu.

Good things right now

Good Friday morning my dear readers! I hope that you’re all doing well and that you’re ready for the weekend. We have started weekend bit early here in Finland because there’s a very “important” celebration of Midsummer that people here go nuts about. It’s just a Midsummer, chill-ax peeps, but nope, they really take it seriously and this is also when almost the whole capital city migrates into the country side because it’s very popular to visit summer cottages and have Midsummer aka Juhannus celebrations there with the families and relatives.

5 for Friday

May 27, 2016

IMG_2367

Good Friday morning everybody! I’m writing this post from the bed. I had an early start to this, already sunny day. The weather has been amazing in Croatia and I believe that over the weekend I shall go swimming in the sea, first time this Summer. 🙂

I had such a wonderful day yesterday spent half in Split and half of it in Sibenik on Taste the Mediterranean festival where some of the best European chefs ( one of them has a Michelin star ) were showing off their cooking skills and having a “face off” between two chefs from Morocco and two from France. I’m very much looking forward to attending the festival today and tomorrow too! To keep updated, stay on track with my Instagram feed -> HERE .

I also must mention that I’ve been enjoying ice creams and great Mediterranean cuisine through this whole trip and am in an absolute foodie heaven here! I will bring some more spots such as hotels and restaurants which I want to share with you and recommend them to you in case that some of you might be vacationing in Croatia this Summer. 🙂

What are your plans for the weekend? Besides taking my first swim in the sea and the food festival, I will visit city of Zadar for work and also meet bunch of friends that I can’t wait to catch up with.

Have a wonderful weekend everybody!

Good morning my dear readers! It’s finally a weekend and I’m very excited about it. There’s a lot of things I’m looking forward to do over the weekend and ultimately, I can’t wait to celebrate Mother’s Day on Sunday. I’ve been a mom for 7+ years now and I can’t put into words what it means to me to be a mom to the most special, beautiful and smart little girl like my daughter is. <3

Are you a mom? Do you celebrate Mother’s Day this weekend too? Are you going to treat your mom something special? Let me know in the comments! 🙂

In only a few days, I’ll be travelling to Croatia and I can’t wait but it sure will be hard to leave the gorgeous weather that we’ve been having in Helsinki for over a week now! It’s a record believe me, esp. for the month of May. 😀

Past week was a mix of turbulence and chill moments so to say… I’m totally in a need of good weekend, so I’ll kick it off early and head out to do some gift shopping for my family in Croatia.

Have a great Friday and weekend everybody! May the sun shine strong wherever you are right now!

Here’s a roundup of my 5 favourite Instagram shots from the past week.

5 for Friday

Waking up to another sunny day is truly a blessing… Days have been so much brighter and longer that I can see a huge improvement in my overall wellbeing, I’m more happier, energetic and I wake up much easier than usually. I’ve been doing my best to spend as much time outdoors as possible. Even though it’s still chilly and yesterday it was a very windy day, I’m loving every single moment of this beautiful Spring weather in Finland. 🙂

As I listen to “Falling” from Twin Peaks TV series ( any fans here ?? ), I’m writing this post and after that I have a plan to spend this Friday outside, “playing tourist” in my own city, go for a long walk with my daughter and hopefully grab a first ice cream from an ice cream stand. First one this year! 🙂 Ah those small things… They’re everything!

How about you? What are you up to this weekend?

Just like past two Fridays, I’m sharing my 5 for Friday with you, 5 randomly picked photos that have marked my Instagram feed this week. I hope that you like them and if you wish, you can follow my daily wonderings around the city on my Instagram profile.

Much love to everybody!

Visit Helsinki : Farang

February 21, 2016

After already having been to 3 out of 4 Helsinki based B&W restaurants, I was more than eager to visit the 4th one and so to say close the circle, with the restaurant where it all began… FARANG!

Back in times when Björck and Wikberg used to work together at Michelin awarded Chez Dominique restaurant was when an idea of a great quality, authentic Asian restaurant in Helsinki was born. It took about 5 years of planning, researching and taking a trip to Southeast Asia, to finally open up Farang in 2009 offering all of the authentic Asian flavors and a fusion kitchen which was something very new and refreshing on Helsinki’s food scene.

Visit Helsinki: Bronda

October 7, 2015

I love Helsinki! Period! 🙂 This city is a little gem in North of Europe and I feel that it somehow get’s “lost” in between Denmark, Sweden and Russia. Only for the past couple of years is that I can see more and more tourists coming and staying in Helsinki, not just passing through/ having a layover.
