Visit Helsinki series have been one of the most read and also my personal favourite articles on the blog, therefore it doesn’t come as a surprise that they’ve been a constant on my blog for more than 2 years. Visit Helsinki? Why would somebody want to visit the capital of the Santa Land, esp. when it comes to a foodie experience? Well, there are many reasons why to visit this unique city which keeps on evolving in every direction all the time, food scene being one of them.
There are some places in Helsinki to which I always gladly return to.If they happen to have great service, are in the city center and are serving a delicious food, most likely you’ll find me sitting at those places while satisfying my inner hedonist which never sleeps. Continue Reading…
I’m back with the new post for one of my favourite sections on the blog: “Visit Helsinki”. I’m always asked by many where to go, what to see or where to eat when visiting Helsinki and I’m always more than happy to give suggestions and help out to experience (and taste) Helsinki at it’s best. 🙂
One of my favourite recommendations on where to go and eat, because as a self proclaimed, certified foodie and bon vivant, I’m always keeping my eyes and ears open on what good new spots have opened up in the city as well as what’s on the offer in some of the good, old favourites such as Gaijin! In the beginning of this month a long awaited 5th floor in Kamppi shopping mall got a huge facelift or shall I say a complete makeover?! Everybody was waiting for many months to see the final reveal of “Kortteli”. After years of having a dull, not well used space with a ton of potential it finally got completely redesigned and the space got filled with a so called food block.
It’s time for a gourmet moment on my blog! I’d like to share one of my childhood favourite dishes has been mussels in a white wine, more known to Mediterranean people as “buzara sauce”. This dish is so simple to prepare, but very rich in flavour and even though, it doesn’t look like there is much to eat, it does fill you up very well!
Good Wednesday morning everybody! Couple of days ago, I have spent a lovely afternoon with my brother in my own city. The weather has been so wonderful, the sun was shining, air was crispy and refreshing, everything around me looked and felt magical… Oh, yes, it was a true “soul food” couple of hours.
This Wednesday shall start off with a yummy recipe in my “Gourmet moment” where I share my home cooked meals with you which will hopefully inspire you to try cooking and experimenting with different food at home. Cooking at home is therapeutic for me and I love to challenge myself and always try to either invent some new recipes or twist and adjust already tried recipes and make them even better. 🙂
As you might have already noticed, I love to cook at home and create new as well as re-create some of my all time favourite dishes. The recipe which I’ll share with you today is one of the ultimate favourites in my family and everybody loves it equally as much. I love to prepare it on Sunday, when I usually feel really lazy but I still want to cook something healthy, so this recipe then comes in as a perfect saviour since it doesn’t require much time spent by the stove and oven, but the outcome is always a super delicious one.
It’s been couple of months since I’ve been to a wonderful restaurant in the heart of Helsinki city – Boulevard Social. If you are interested, you can read my previous review here. It was around Christmas time when I had the pleasure to try the enchanting tastes and flavours of Mediterranean delight at Boulevard Social. Third restaurant to open by the BW restaurant chain, but nothing less successful or amazing as compared to the other restaurants.
I’m not sure how many of you have watched or remember the legendary TV series “Cheers”? That little cafe where “everybody knows your name”? Yep, that’s how I feel each time I step inside of Yume restaurant, as my second home, place where everybody knows my name and every time I come there, I know that I’m up for a special treat. Ever since discovering Yume’s fusion flavours bringing us the best of tastes of Asia, I have been a devoted fan of their kitchen and vision. After following through their 4 menu changes, I can only say that they’ve been getting more and more inspiring with the selection of dishes on the menu and the way how they get the best out of each dish is still unresolved mystery to me. 😀 How can they deliver at all times with all of the dishes on the menu? I mean, their sides are equally mind-blowing too.
