YUM pastry shop and cafe are a little peace of delicious heaven which you MUST visit if you find yourself visiting Sibenik this Summer for instance. YUM pastry shop and cafe was born only a few months ago and it’s a very refreshing and much needed addition to the local gourmet offer.
Locals might have been reserved or suspicious in the beginning, because in town (and country) where there’s “Pekarna” meaning bakery and a cafe on every corner and you do have a chance to grab a tasty, creamy layered cake in many places, it seemed that someplace like YUM had nothing new to offer??
Oh well, everybody was caught by the surprise when a little, white and pink, dreamy spot as YUM pastry shop and cafe opened it’s doors to the public because in fact, they did have a lot to offer. Owners Aleksej and Antonia have put much effort, planning and attention to the detail in order to bring something completely new yet so “usual” to Sibenik town – a place where you can casually sit down for a perfect cup of coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice and a piece of a wonderful, unique and delicious cake.
All of YUM pastry shop and cafe cakes are handmade by Antonia which is possibly the most busiest pastry chef in town at the moment. Everybody has already raved about this cute little spot and their amazing Sibenik hat cake (YUM’s signature cake) so Antonia isn’t stopping to bake and create some new cakes pretty much weekly. So much love and time is put into only one cake and you will see from my photos that every single one of them looks like a piece of art!
On then day when I went there I had an opportunity to try: Cheesecake with vanilla cream, Choux dough – hazelnut mousse, Hazelnut mousse and passion fruit curd and Sibenik hat – chocolate mousse – blood orange jello – almond croquant.
I also have to say that the service is possibly one of the nicest and friendliest in town which makes the whole experience even better.
YUM pastry shop and cafe is a place I couldn’t wait to bring my daughter to as well and she loved it as much as I did. She liked it so much that she’s been asking me almost daily to go back to YUM during our holidays in Croatia. 😉
