Visit Croatia: Hotel Life

June 9, 2016

Situated in a small bay of Zecevo, between cities Primosten and Rogoznica, Hotel Life is an ultimate destination for a private getaway from all of the noises and rush of the city life. While the hotel is perfectly tucked away and has one of the most beautiful sea views I’ve ever witnessed in my life, it is still only a short car or bike ride to either of two mentioned cities in which you can get anything you might need, some souvenirs as well as visit some heritage places such as church of Our Lady Of Mercy, chapel of St. Rocco, metal museum/ shop – crafts and souvenirs made out of different metal parts. Very nearby are famous Babich fields where the best wines come from. You can take a tour of Babich vineyards and learn more about the vinery and how the wine is being made.

While in Rogoznica, you can discover some more architectural gems, big marina and as well a natural phenomenon, salt lake called “Dragon’s Eye”.

Hotel has it’s private indoor and outdoor pools, but one of the most “raw” and untouched beaches with the clearest sea is right in front of the hotel.

Besides vicinity of many amazing and traditional restaurants in Primosten and Rogoznica, Hotel Life has it’s own restaurant which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. For lunch and dinner you can choose whichever dishes you like from their a-la carte menu. Menu is traditional, based on authentic Dalmatian cuisine with a bit of modern twist.

Hotel Life is a 4 stars, family run business and a lot of care and thought has been put into decoration of the hotel, esp. it’s bedrooms. I loved the fact that all of the rooms were very spacious, modern and had some of my favourite beauty products by Rituals as their toiletries. Rooms are varying from superior room with a sea view to the Presidential apartment of 90m2 which could be a perfect honeymoon suite for instance. 🙂

If you wish to have a relaxing and pampering day at the hotel, it’s very much possible by visiting it’s Finnish sauna or Turkish steam bath as well as taking a massage at the Spa.

One thing which I was very impressed with that all of the staff was very welcoming, pleasant, fully skilled and has met all of my wishes and needs. As somebody who has travelled a lot and have stayed in many different hotels, I find it very important to be happy with your accommodation and hotel’s service. When you’re on a holiday, you want to feel relaxed, safe and welcomed and that is how I felt staying at Hotel Life.

Sometimes…

June 6, 2016

vintagetee4

Do you have those days in your life when you think that you’ve “cracked” the code? When you think that you totally got this thing called “life” and what it’s all about. I mean, there has never been more self-help books or inspirational speakers than there are nowadays, all of them teaching you something about life. Their “how to” books on what to do so that you would be happy or what to do so that you would succeed, how to this or how to that… I mean, we can’t be that lost?

You must have experienced those days when you think that everything is just falling perfectly in place, you have a clear vision about everything and you’re in a peace with everybody around you? If the answer is yes, well, congrats, at times, I have those days too… At times I have those kind of days when I’m somewhere in between, in a way as things aren’t maybe happening as fast as I have expected, but they’re still “moving”. Or in a way where I think that you know that person ain’t that correct in how they speak or act, but it ain’t anything real bad to not give them another chance… Or in a way where I have tried to solve this one problem for quite a while now, but hey, there are worser things in life I could be dealing with now.

Then there are those days like the ones that I’m going through right now… When your head hurts from thinking too much, from questioning too much… Those days when you think that everything you thought you knew or understood about life and people was completely wrong. Those days when you think that you could have done so many things differently and even though I don’t like to dwell in the past, sometimes it’s so hard to get rid of the past, because your past actions and choices are affecting the “today” that you’re living in right now.

Yep, not the most uplifting post, but one that I wanted to write down and start a conversation with you my readers… What do you do on those days when they look like a big, blurry mess…? When all of the lines are so intertwined that you have no idea how to separate what’s the “head thinking” and what are the “whisperings of the heart” and how to put these two back in sync with each other?

I’m all about positivity, inspiring people however and whenever I can, but I must say that I’m really tired of all of the “How to” books because what if there is no secret formula for having your thoughts, feelings and life in perfect order? What if it’s absolutely normal to feel and find yourself in a situation where you question if anything ever made sense in your life and it’s absolutely normal to find yourself in a situation in which you tap yourself on the shoulder and feel as if you’re the king of the world.

What if it’s good to every now and then have those days where you’re questioning everything? Aren’t those possibly the moments when you’re “growing”, when you’re indirectly admitting to yourself that you might have been smarter about some things/ choices, that not everybody will be as great as you’ve imagined them to be? Maybe it’s actually necessary to have those days when you’re completely lost? Isn’t that those are the moments when you’re about to see a brighter light on the new path that’s just uncovering in front of you?!

I have survived before those “How to” books, so I think that I’ll be fine now too… My blurry situation and unanswered questions might be in a completely different shape in a week from now and life will again look different and more “understandable” than it is right now. I also believe that we will never really “crack” the code of what life is or how it should be. Living it as honestly, simple and as kind as possible is all that matters…

ENG: How in the world is it Friday already? To top it off, it’s also beginning of a new month, so… Welcome June, I’ve been expecting you. 🙂

How was your week? Mine was a mash up of all sorts of happenings, feelings and lots of warm, may I say hot weather which brought me to the beach and I got my bikini out for the first time this year. To be bare feet, with minimum clothes on and feeling the sea breeze while licking super yummy ice cream… Let me tell you, only few moments/ things can top off a moment like that one was.

This Friday will be an easy going one, first some errands, then some zen time with a good book and my mini me at the beach and in the evening I will meet my friend to go and watch a “Miss Mamma” gathering 16 ordinary women from all over Croatia aged 25-55 and divided in two categories. I’m actually quite looking forward to this, different kind of competition where I believe that whole personality will play a bigger role in winning the competition than the looks which is usually the case in other “beauty” pageants.

Saturday and Sunday will be all about pizza, beach time and possibly squeeze in some movie time too. 🙂

I’m sharing my 5 favourite Instagram photos of the past week. Follow me daily HERE !

Have a great weekend everybody!

FI: Kuinka ihmeessĂ€ tĂ€nÀÀn on taas Perjantai? Ja kaiken lisĂ€ksi tĂ€nÀÀn on uuden kuun ensimmĂ€inen pĂ€ivĂ€, joten…Tervetuloa KesĂ€kuu, olenkin jo odottanut sinua. 🙂

Kuinka sinun viikko meni?

Visit Croatia: Hotel Life Palace

June 1, 2016

lifepalace2

Did you already hear or read that Croatia is this year’s number 1 Summer destination? Croatia has one of the most beautiful, old and filled with life and heritage cities in the South of Europe. If you’re looking for a perfect “one person” kind of adventure or for a romantic honeymoon destination or maybe a fun holiday spot for a whole family, Croatia should be your 1st choice! I promise, if you do pick Croatia as this Summer’s destination, you won’t be disappointed. 🙂

Sea is crystal clear, the nature is breathtaking, sun is shining “non stop”, locals are cheerful and very welcoming of tourists, restaurants and hotels are plenty to choose from, beaches are perfect for a whole day fun, there’re endless excursions which are tailored to show you all the best hot spots as well as some hidden gems. Some of the best Summer music festivals are being held in Croatia too such as Ultra and IN music festival, just to name two of them!

lifepalace

If you wish to visit a small, picturesque and very special city in the middle of Adriatic coast, then look no further, Sibenik will impress you with it’s enchanting narrow, cobble stone streets, wonderful architecture and breathtaking sea views. One of the biggest attractions, cathedral of St. Jacobs which is under protection of UNESCO is def. worth taking a long and thorough look at from the inside as well as on the outside. Besides interesting cathedral, churches, city hall, etc. worth mentioning are fortresses and palaces of Sibenik. One such, Marenci palace is the hero of today’s post. 🙂

lifepalace5

Marenci palace used to be one of knight’s palaces, dating from 15th century. It’s complete renovation started back in 2014. and once, long forgotten and barely used palace, turned into a gorgeous, fairytale like hotel.

Hotel Life Palace opened it’s doors to public almost a year ago in the very heart of old town of Sibenik. It has 17 beautifully furnished bedrooms which are all decorated in 15th century vibe paying a tribute to Sibenik’s history and original “function” of the space.

Besides royalty like furnished bedrooms, this boutique hotel has a mini spa with jacuzzi, Finnish sauna and also a lovely cafe with a gorgeous summertime terrace. Cafe serves some of the best cakes you will try anywhere and you can also enjoy a great scoop of Carte D’or ice cream on the terrace. If you’re an early bird, make sure to catch a delicious and healthy breakfast too! 🙂 Starting this month, cafe will be also serving Tapas bites to satisfy some late evening munchie cravings.

Hotel’s walking vicinity to all of the main city’s attractions, shops and restaurants make it your ultimate choice for a hotel to stay at in Sibenik city!!

No fear

May 30, 2016

nofear2

Lately, I’ve encountered some situations and people which made me often think about one specific subject: “fear”! I wonder, when did we stop being these fearless kids who would do all sorts of “crazy” things and not fear the outcome of our adventures? I’m not talking here about the vandalism or doing bad things, but you know, about doing that “one extra” push or step just to test the water and how cold it really is.

When did we all became slaves of our own brain and have started to overthink everything!? When did we started to ask so many questions and building up a feeling of fear because we can’t find the answers to all of them?

One quote always rings in my head: “What would you do and how far would you go if you wouldn’t be afraid?” That is so true and very thought provoking at the same time. Just think for a sec… How much we would all do and how far we would all get if this, anxious feel of fear wouldn’t stop us? If we wouldn’t be afraid of taking a risk in anything, from our relationships and jobs to other segments in our lives… How much more wider our horizons, experiences and better everyday life would be?

You do know, my dear readers that “fear”, such thing simply does not exist. We are the ones who bring it into our lives and we’re the ones who are such pros in making the fear stay present in our day-to-day lives. Being aware or responsible aren’t the same thing as being afraid of something. In reality, fear just disables us from thinking clear and makes us only make more bad choices faster. Fear disables us from fully ever accomplishing anything at our best or reaching those dreams and goals which we’re longing for so much…

Fear is an illusion, but I don’t know if it’s ever possible to fully let go of this illusion and live fearlessly. I believe that we can at least try our best to control it and always take a moment to breathe or take a step back before we act on anything out of fear.

So, message of this post is – NO FEAR dear people! No fear that you’ll do wrong, choose wrong, etc… Every choice which you make, every step that you take, fear not that you’re going in the right direction and walking the path you’ve been supposed to take since the day you were born.

P.S. Special thank you to my brother for taking these awesome outfit photos! 🙂

IMG_2367

Good Friday morning everybody! I’m writing this post from the bed. I had an early start to this, already sunny day. The weather has been amazing in Croatia and I believe that over the weekend I shall go swimming in the sea, first time this Summer. 🙂

I had such a wonderful day yesterday spent half in Split and half of it in Sibenik on Taste the Mediterranean festival where some of the best European chefs ( one of them has a Michelin star ) were showing off their cooking skills and having a “face off” between two chefs from Morocco and two from France. I’m very much looking forward to attending the festival today and tomorrow too! To keep updated, stay on track with my Instagram feed -> HERE .

I also must mention that I’ve been enjoying ice creams and great Mediterranean cuisine through this whole trip and am in an absolute foodie heaven here! I will bring some more spots such as hotels and restaurants which I want to share with you and recommend them to you in case that some of you might be vacationing in Croatia this Summer. 🙂

What are your plans for the weekend? Besides taking my first swim in the sea and the food festival, I will visit city of Zadar for work and also meet bunch of friends that I can’t wait to catch up with.

Have a wonderful weekend everybody!

Visit Croatia: Bota Sare

May 25, 2016

botasare11

botasare10

Who could ever say that Mediterranean cuisine has anything to do with the Japanese one? Who could ever say that these two could be “mixed” and deliver the best of two worlds together in one place? Bota Sare made me believe that this is very much possible.

Oyster and sushi bar Bota Sare comes from a 40 years long family tradition of love for the sea food originating from their hometown Mali Ston. First fusion restaurant like this one was opened in Dubrovnik, followed by the one I’ve visited in Split. Ever since, Bota Sare has been the ultimate choice for many locals and tourists as a “must try” sushi place as well as a place where you get to try the best of traditional meals such as seafood risotto, octopus salad or mixed shells in Buzara sauce.

botasare7

botasare6

Bota Sare is tucked away in a small side street, just a short walk away from the most visited spot in Split – Splitska Riva, one of the most beautiful promenades that a sea side city can have. Thanks to the benefits of Split city being situated at the Adriatic sea coast, fish is caught fresh daily and that is something that you can make sure of – Bota Sare serves only the best of the quality produce and never make compromises. Oysters are also daily caught and shipped from Mali Ston to Split.

botasare9

botasare5

Menu is really interesting and “colourful” so it was a bit though to decide on what to choose from it, but since I’m a huge sushi lover, I had to take different nigiris, rolls and sashimi as starters and main course. Another two options were for more of a meat eaters, spring rolls stuffed with cream cheese and veggies as for the starter and beef teriyaki with rice as the main course.

Sushi rolls were great, especially a dragon roll, but the spotlight def. goes to the super fresh and delicious nigiris and spicy tuna tataki!

botasare12

If you want to enjoy the unique crossover of Dalmatian vs. Japanese cuisine, make sure to stop by Bota Sare and let the kind and skilful staff welcome you with the plates full of goodness for all of the true seafood lovers.

Do you bleed?

May 23, 2016

lost4

There’s a thought that’s been on my mind a lot lately… Sometimes, it’s been so present in my daily life that I’ve been loosing sleep over it. Maybe because I’m a too sensitive soul, maybe because I’m a mom that wants the best future and society possible for my daughter… Maybe it’s just because I bleed?! I bleed like everybody else does… Some people hide their sorrows better, some aren’t as skilful, but we all do, indeed bleed. What I’m talking about is – judging! Why do we judge each other so easily? We are not know it alls and we’re not more special than the person we’re “looking wrong” at.

We’re beautiful, unique creatures, all sent to this earth with our unique personality which was sent down here to make a difference… Even the smallest difference is a significant one and the one that was supposed to be done. Maybe we were sent here to influence by talking or maybe by singing… Maybe we were supposed to “touch” other people’s hearts by our beautiful paintings… Maybe we were sent down here to be somebody’s mom, a life teacher, maybe a daughter which will hold our hand through though moments in life, maybe we were supposed to write so beautifully that we would inspire others by that. We were all sent down to this earth with a special purpose and a good, positive, kind one that is.

Something that we might not all be aware of is that as much as we are unique, everybody else is too. As much as we’r vulnerable, others are too… No matter what it may seem on the outside, we all need the support from each other, understanding, love.

Way too many times I’ve seen people pointing fingers at each other, starting or continuing constant fights over such meaningless things… So many times bad and ugly things overshadow the beautiful moments we could be living. Only if we would see more clearly, only if we would try bit harder to be there for each other, if we would try to be more acceptive and understanding of each other, this world would be a much better and more promising place to raise our children in.

We both have good and bad sides inside of us… We are the devil that we feed. What you give out is what you build yourself of. The bad thoughts about yourself or others will always prevent you from completely finding beauty, goodness and magic of life… But remember, once you’ll bleed, you’ll want that saving, comforting hand and there won’t be a single one if you’ve lacked to give one when it was needed.

If we would just open up our eyes more often and instead of staring into our phones, tv and laptop screen and instead of living on the “auto-mode”, maybe we would see how much we and everybody around us needs a change, help and a promise of a better future.

I’m wearing: Dress – Zara, Sandals – Isabel Marant, Bag – Gucci, Sunglasses – Chanel, Ring – Deni design, Bracelet – Givenchy

Visit Croatia: Pelegrini

May 18, 2016

pelegrini15

pelegrini14

When people travel across the country to the small, seaside city just in order to dine at a certain restaurant and when the reservations are highly required since all of the tables are almost always completely booked, then it must mean that you’ve come across a very special place… This special place is a restaurant and it’s called Pelegrini. It’s situated in the old town of Sibenik, Croatia, right next to the majestic and UNESCO protected cathedral of St. Jacobs. For the third year in the row, it won a prestigious gastronomy award as the best restaurant in the whole country, accompanied by this year’s award for the best chef as well.

Mr. Rudi, the head chef, the visionarie who has “built” Pelegrini from a small, unpretentious restaurant to the most innovative and hyped about one. It’s worth mentioning that this restaurant is a part of Jeunes Restaurateurs d’Europe, a prestigious association of young restaurateurs who want to share their talent, innovations and profession with each other.

pelegrini13

Between billion “konobas” along the Adriatic coast, which are usually just a tourist traps, often unappetising and 3 m long menu kind of restaurants, places like Pelegrini are real jewels. I was very excited to visit Pelegrini for late dinner last Sunday and experience the privilege of enjoying a chef’s Secret menu of all together 9 courses. All of the dishes were wonderfully paired with the finest local wines such as Bibich, Rak and Gracin.

pelegrini

pelegrini2

We started off our foodie trip with the little “golden bombs” of the best what a sea can offer – oysters! We were told that those oysters are local ones which are from the Krka river, just in the spot where the sea mixes with the sweet river water. Oysters were served with a bit of lemon gel on top which has enhanced the taste of these sea diamonds to the max! Along with that we have snacked on homemade bread and black olives, capers and anchovies tapenade.

pelegrini3

Next up arrived a fish tartar of a lightly seared sea bream on a cuttle fish inked rice chips. This was a perfectly warm, crispy, salty and simply such a fish delight of a starter/ snack.

pelegrini4

Right after, followed a very interesting presentation of beef tar-tar! I was impressed by a very original idea of serving raw, chopped up meat in a panko crust with a bit of mayo on top and tomato gazpacho soup on the bottom. I have never seen a beef tar-tar taste or look like this anywhere else. 10 points for this starter!

All of these three courses were paired with Brut Bibich bubbly.

pelegrini5

Now, onto the first plates – Gnocchi with squid like nothing I’ve seen before either! Love how a very, so to say traditional Croatian dish got a whole new makeover at Pelegrini. Soft and warm gnocchi wit the squid ink was paired with thinly sliced squid, topped with fish caviar on the bed of homemade, reduced fish sauce. Match made in heaven!! This was my favourite dish off of the menu.

pelegrini6

Next up was a mashed potato with cream cheese and chili with cooked and thinly sliced pig ears, topped with marinated mustard seeds and on the bed of reduced meat stock. I have to be honest and say that I have “forwarded” this dish to my assistant and rely on his opinion about it. He approved it with two thumbs up and said that when everything is mixed together, the explosion of tastes happens and that’s when the dish becomes alive. Def. a chef’s strong card to impress an eater who has “seen it all”.

pelegrini7

pelegrini8

Besides gnocchi and squid, my 2nd favourite dish was Egg in Shorbul. It’s basically another very traditional dish, interpreted in a very inspiring and modern way. It’s a runny egg ( soldiers ) with foam of fermented cow’s cheese, local truffle slices, local prosciutto and snails from the fields. I have no words for this dish, it’s so “simple” but incredibly delicious and unusual.

All three dishes were perfectly paired with another local and family run vinery Rak – Marashtina wine from 2013.

pelegrini10

As for the final, main course we were served puree of celery with raspberry, cooked kale, slowly cooked ( 6 hours in su-vid machine ) in the red wine beef cheeks and covered with demi-glace sauce. First I was wondering why the raspberry “on top”, but let me tell you, that was a party in my mouth little bomb of sweetness which connected perfectly the smooth and creamy pure, crunchy kale and buttery, cooked to perfection beef cheeks. Once again, such a simple, but perfectly done dish.

This dish worked wonderfully with Gracin Babich red wine from 2011.

pelegrini11

pelegrini9

As a pre dessert, we were served bisque with the strawberry compote, cream with lavender scent, lemon gel and fresh strawberries. The main dessert was Rogach cake, made of rogach, raspberry panna cotta, strawberry coulis along with apple puree, cooked apple and choco thins. This goes straight to the top 3 best desserts of my 28 years of existence. 😀 SO GOOD!!!

As the dessert wine, we were served with Ambra Bibich prosecco.

I must mention that besides brilliant surprise menu, tasty food and fine wines, the service was absolutely impeccable, better than in many Michelin starred restaurants. Yep! Believe it or not, Pelegrini deserves the hype, awards and everything in between… You must visit this place if you find yourself anywhere near or in Sibenik this Summer. 🙂
